Insulation Hatch Cad

Does anyone have a.pat file for insulation similar to the 2D insulation component available in Revit? Or if you aren't willing to share the file, maybe share how you achieved it so I can duplicate it? I seem to be limited to the ****** hatch patterns available and none of them are even close to insulation. I found this but I don't see how this works in a cut view, seems like it would get the result I want in plan but this guy has created an extrusion so in cut I'm just going to see a solid piece like I already see.and that's not what I want.

AutoCad Help, how do I draw that sqiggly insulation? Hi, I can just about get by with most stuff in AutoCad, but I can't seem to work out how to draw insulation. I've looked at the internal help, but I don't really know what i'm doing. This web site or the third parties’ tools used therein use technical, proprietary and analytic cookies. Generally, to fill an area with a pattern hatches are used and there are plenty of ready-made hatch patterns available in AutoCAD but if you want to use your own custom hatch pattern then you can make it using a type of simple code and also using an express tool called Superhatch.

We are also using fiberglass batts, and the usual insulation linetype for that. We are using a metal panel on part of the exterior, which has mineral wool insulation, and I want to use a hatch pattern that is easily differentiated, and that reads like mineral wool.

Seems to me I 'should' be able to just set a hatch pattern but I have no idea why OOTB revit doesn't include a freaking insulation hatch pattern and only has a 2D component available.this is like the 15th iteration of Revit and they still haven't included this? Do I create a text file in notepad and save it as a *.pat?

Copy and paste the pattern text to Notepad or any other text editor such as PSPad. Trim any leading spaces from each line. Make sure to save it as a.PAT file and not as a.PAT.txt file - which is what Notepad will gleefully give you if you just save with the default.txt file extension that Notepad thinks you need (you don't). Use Save as type:= All Files (*.*) to supply the.PAT extension, otherwise you won't be able to find it while browsing in Revit. In your Revit project, select Manage>Additional Settings>Fill Patterns (to wake up Fill Pattern manager).

Click: • Drafting or Model radio-button (to select either Pattern Type) • New (New Pattern panel appears) • Custom (lower portion changes) • Import (file browser appears, restricted to.PAT files, remember) • Browse to your file and open it • Select the pattern you want to load from the dropdown list • Alter the pattern scale to taste • Alter the pattern name to taste • Click on OK (pattern will be added to the displayed list of patterns) That's it. Redo to load with a different scale or you can use the free Add-In I mentioned earlier to do that inside your project. Hope this helps, Hugh Adamson. Reclaime free raid recovery. Thanks Hugh, I managed to figure out most of this before you replied, but I seem to have hit a roadblock.

It's in inches don't know if this is an issue for importing in a metric project? I can't seem to edit the scale upon importation all the choices to do with scale are greyed out. And I really WANT to try the hatchkit, among other useful plug-ins also but where I work IT have a stranglehold on everything so I can't just download and try it out I need someone from IT to first approve it and blah blah red tape and it usually takes them a month to actually install something I ask for (I waited 3 months for design review to get installed and its part of the CAD deployment package.). No it's worked as you described - kind of.but I assume discrepancies are down to user error on my side.

The tray with the hole in it that comes out of the computer is for holding a Maccas drink cup right? I actually got this mostly to work, I had to put my import scale way down at 0.01 but its more or less worked with one exception.

I've used a component family for insulation, and this has an 'insulation' material applied, which in turn has your hatch pattern applied When I place this element and runs horizontally across the screen (in plan) it works fine. If the element runs vertically up and down the page/screen the hatch does not rotate 90 degrees but rather draws the elliptical line thingo sitting one on top of the other - as opposed to stringing along side by side as they should. I had the same problem appear in section because the piece with a depth of 300mm needs the hatch to turn 90 degrees to hatch how I want but it currently doesn't. Am I missing something or is this just how it is? Maybe I need to use the same hatch turned 90 degrees for section hatch?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Insulation / Batting Line When Changing Annotation Scale

Dec 6, 2011

I'm more or less happy with annotation scaling, apart from the mysterious hatching problems that are not the issue of this message.
But there is a major annotative scaling issue with batting / insulation lines. Insulation lines should NOT change with annotative scaling ! A 4' insulation layer shouldn't become 16' just because i'm printing in bigger scale !

AutoCAD LT :: Batting Linetype Not Printing

Jul 4, 2012

We have a number of layers pre-set up to display the batting linetype at various scales:-
However when printing a '25mm' thick version of the batting linetype drawing it prints as a straight line. Our other scales are fine.
The linetype views correctly in model and paper space just not when printing.

AutoCad :: Linetype Batting Dimensions?

Apr 5, 2012

When doing batting insulation is there anyway to define its dimensions? For example, i want the width to be 150mm from center, making it 300mm thick
I know i can adjust the size view of it with the annotation scale, but i would like to be able to define and exact dimension instead, not the scale. This would be useful when drawing wall detail.

AutoCad :: Batting Line Looking Different In Viewport

Feb 27, 2012

Trying to create an insulation batting line (15 centimeters wide), in the model it looks okay (actually it goes a tiny little bit beyond the borders, but it is good enough for me at this stage). In the viewports however it is much wider (I would say, it is 10-15 times wider than expected).
My setup:
LTSCALE - 1.0
CELTSCALE - 1.0
MSLTSCALE - 1.0

AutoCAD Inventor :: Browser Shows Everything But No Model Shows Up On Workspace Screen

Jul 20, 2012

It was working fine. Then I just did a simple command (pattern a part) and the entire workspace blinked out. The first time it happened I hit UNDO and it was back. So I got out of the drawing and got back in and tried the pattern again. Same issue but this time when I hit UNDO it would not come back. I closed the file without saving and when I went back in the file the workspace is still nothing but white screen. In the browser everything is still visible except for those that I had already changed to invisible. I tried making an invisible to visible and nothing happened. I got out and tried opening the 'old version' which should've been before any of this happened and it is also blank. I can go to an ipt or iam in the browser and hit open and it will open in another screen just fine. I just can't see my main assembly. I have Inventor 2012. It shows no errors or messages. I have even rebooted.
I looked thru the forum and found a past issue back in 2005 identical. I tried doing Find in Window on an item in the browser but for some reason that option is not even in the list when I right click.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Pipe Insulation Representation

Nov 6, 2013

I am trying to create a representation of 10' diameter insulation that will cover the 3' pipe (the thickest one shown in the attached picture). This pipe has been created using the Tube and Piping environment, so I don't know the best method, if there is one, to do it. I tried doing a sweep using the pipe route's center-line, but ran into complications, I may have not been doing it right. All it really has to be is a visual representation so that I can visually check clearances and for presentation purposes.

AutoCAD LT :: 2012 Multileader Now Has Dots Appear In It

Apr 5, 2011

I created a Multileader style in AutoCAD LT 2011 that worked pretty good. Basically a keynote callout with a tick on one end and a circle on the other end. After using AutoCAD LT 2012 it was noticed that there was a small dot in all the circles. It seems that if your Multileader type is set to 'block', your source block is set to, whatever (triangle, circle, etc...), and most importantly, if your attachment is set to 'Insertion Point', a very small dot is placed in the insertion point. It prints as well. When the same drawing is opened with AutoCAD LT 2011, the problem disappears.

AutoCad :: Connect The Dots Grid System?

Mar 29, 2012

I have a jpeg that I am wanting to paint on a 12x15ft canvas. I was thinking of doing like a grid system with 4 inch spaces between lines, and finding the distance from the lines on the jpeg to the edges of the canvas and then connect the dots.
IE a dot 48 inch from top, 108 from left side which connects to a dot 4 inches down (size of grid) until i have an outline.

AutoCad 3D :: X-ray / Opacity Creates Small Dots?

Insulation Hatch Cad

When viewed with x-ray visual style on autocad 2012 the view used to smooth as if I were looking through glass. When I view the drawing with autocad 2008 I get small dots or 'x' all over my solids. Now Ive worked on the drawing on 2008 saved it and opened it in 2012 and now the dots or 'x's are happening in both versions. I used to think it was a video card issue but now that it's happening both places it can't be. How I get back the smooth glass look I had on 2012 version.

AutoCAD Print / Plot :: Background Mask Dots

Mar 10, 2010

When printing a plan with a background mask, the mask shows as a bunch of ting gray dots. Also we have a plot style, using STB, that is supposed to print white, but it too prints as a light gray hatch. It is not that big of a deal until we scan to run sets. The dots and hatch get picked up more intensely by the scanner and it looks like hell, a big gray background. It happens on label masks too: contours, structures, etc. Wipeouts are okay, but those are not used much anymore. I am printing to an OCE TDS600 with current drivers, I have even tried older drivers. I also tried printing to DWF then to the printer and got the same result. Printing to DWF actually added little gray plus signs for the wipeout. The scanner is a OCE TDS600, and we plot with the grays & lines setting.
I have heard the dots are unavoidable, but I really don't want to believe that because it makes our plans look like crap.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Un-deletable White Dots In Drawing

Feb 21, 2013

I'm working on a set of similar drawings.
When I copied the first drawing into the second, these un-deletable white dots have appeared and will not go away.
I have tried changing to following options with no success: Blipmode, gridmode, freezing 0/defpoints layer, regen, purge.
I even tried deleting the 'copied drawing' and purging/regen but those dots are still there after that.
Other notes:
1. If I regen the dots move around in relationship to where my zoom is at.
2. The dots are NOT selectable at all.
3. The dots do NOT appear in the layout views.
4. They don't stop me from doing my work, they are just a nuisance that I want to fix.
5. Using Autocad 2011 (E.208.0.2 version 3), Win 7 Pro 64x (SP1)
This has to be some sort of bug in AutoCAD. I have tried doing a Google search and tried different methods of getting rid of these dots but nothing has worked.
If you see my attached image, I tried to highlight where the dots are in my drawing....
it seems anytime I have a problem with AutoCAD, it seem to be a problem that no one else has.
After I typed everything above I tried copying the contents of this drawing into a new drawing and the dots went away... but how to fix the broken drawing without making a new one..

AutoCAD LT :: 2013 Multileader Has Dots In Keynote Bubble

Jul 12, 2012

I created a Multileader style in AutoCAD LT 2011 that duplicated our Architectural firms standards from previous versions. Pretty simple. The problem is, when utilized using AutoCAD LT 2012, AutoCAD LT 2013, AutoCAD 2012, or AutoCAD 2013, a small dot appears in the keynote bubble. (it also plots) Workarounds include checking “Automatically include landing” and/or changing “Content – Insertion point” to “Content – Center Extents”, in the “Modify Multileader Styles” dialogue. Both unacceptable per our office standards. Tough being 2 versions of AutoCAD behind office wide, because of such a minor bug but our keynoting has looked the same since 1992 and I really thought it would have been fixed since posting after the release of 2012.
Attached is a .dwg or you can follow these instructions. Start a new drawing, go in to “Annotate”, Click “Leaders”, hit “new”. Name it whatever you like, I’ve named mine “Test”. Under “Leader Structure”, uncheck “Automatically include landing”. Under “Content” change “Multileader type:” to “Block”, “Source block” to “Circle”(this setting can be set to anything), and “Attachment:” to “insertion point”. Hit “O.K.”, highlight your newly created Multileader style, hit “Set Current”, and close out. Test your new multileader style and notice the dot.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: How To Hide Two Big Dots Representing Assembly Insert

Mar 15, 2013

There is a line (and two big dots) representing EVERY Assembly insert. And I've been trying to figure out how to hide them.
May be they were there because of some link/point code. But I was unable to find and thing.
In the attached screen shot (taken from a print preview), I've circled one of these dots and pointed at one of the lines. I need to get rid of these.
